CBD Oil : Possible Pain Relief

As long back as 2900 B.C., people were using cannabis to alleviate their suffering. Recent research has pinpointed CBD, one of cannabis’s active compounds, as the source of the plant’s analgesic properties. The endocannabinoid system in the human body is responsible for regulating numerous physiological processes, such as rest, appetite, pain perception, and immunological response. Your body naturally creates endocannabinoids, which are neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in the brain and central nervous system.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound found in cannabis that has shown promise in alleviating chronic pain. CBD appears to work by modulating the function of endocannabinoid receptors, reducing inflammation, and interacting with neurotransmitters. There is some evidence to suggest that cannabidiol (CBD), when taken on its own, may be beneficial for the treatment of certain types of pain, including nerve and back pain. On the other hand, it seems to function in the most optimal manner when combined with THC.

In clinical trials on humans, a combination of CBD and THC has proven to be an effective treatment for patients suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS) and arthritis pain. Sativex (nabiximols), an oral spray with a ratio of THC to CBD that is equal to one to one, has been granted permission for the treatment of pain associated with multiple sclerosis in a number of countries.

  • Results

The effects of one month’s worth of Sativex treatment in 47 patients with multiple sclerosis were analysed. The participants reported significant reductions in their levels of pain, as well as improvements in their mobility and muscular spasms.  Because this study did not include a placebo control group, we are unable to state with absolute certainty that the findings are not the result of the fact that the participants truly felt they were participating in the study’s intervention. Sativex has been shown to be beneficial for those who suffer from neuropathic pain that is persistent and severe, as well as neuropathic pain that is associated with multiple sclerosis. The review reveals that Sativex may be able to assist decrease symptoms of anxiety and stress, which have been recognised as key causes to chronic pain.

  • Treat Rheumatic conditions

In addition, preliminary research suggests that CBD oil can reduce the symptoms of rheumatic conditions such as fibromyalgia. [CBD] is extracted from the cannabis plant. Patients with fibromyalgia who responded to a survey on their usage of cannabidiol (CBD) for pain management reported a moderate to significant reduction in the severity of their symptoms. In addition, preclinical evidence derived from studies conducted on rats suggests that cannabidiol (CBD) may have beneficial effects on the pain and inflammation associated with arthritis; however, there have been no studies conducted on humans. Experts are cautiously optimistic that CBD may be beneficial in the treatment of various forms of pain, particularly when combined with THC. However, additional high-quality trials are required to determine CBD’s efficacy in pain management.

  • CONCLUSION

Some individuals with multiple sclerosis and fibromyalgia may find that the use of CBD, particularly in conjunction with THC, is helpful in managing the pain associated with their conditions. Additional research is necessary to properly understand the possible role that it could play in the treatment of pain.
